Assignment Numero Uno

Life is more difficult in the 30's than now. I find that statement to be very true. Back then there wasn't many of the common luxuries we have today. For one, there was still racial prejudice against colored people and I am of Hispanic descent. I assume life back then would've been rather harsh for me. Also, the great technology we have today was in no way present during the 30's. There was no such thing as computers, gaming consoles, refrigerators, no nothin'. Also, the Great Depression was still impacting the work force rather hard. Finding work in them days must've been excruciatingly difficult. Even those who had high paying jobs were feeling the hurt of the Depression. With all of those hardships though, came some surprising outcomes. People back then weren't lazy like most people today. They went through hard times, had to struggle just to get by. Hard work is what it took if you wanted to sustain your life. Laziness was the last trait in the world any one person would want during the 1930's. Life today is much easier because of the luxuries and technologic advancements. We have become so dependent on many conveniences we have today and are really not hard working. This dependency has brought upon us many generations of lazy youngsters. Then, the only ways of entertainment was to go out to places and do things. Nowadays kids tend to stay home and do nothing. Time is simply wasted by the youth of today. Hardly any time is spent doing things productive. We have amazing medical technology and people are able to live with little medical difficulty. Should the Swine Flu hit back then, a lot of peolple would die because there was little knowledge of viruses and diseases. It probably would've hit a higher death toll than that of the Spanish Influenza Epidemic that destroyed the lives of many a decade after the 30's.
